Dedham is served by a volunteer fire department with 26 active members, all of whom have obtained Firefighter 1 certification. The department has two pumper tankers and two four-wheel drive quick attack vehicles, stored in its two fire houses.
As a department, the members play an active role in the Dedham community. In addition to working the annual Dedham celebration as a unit, the fire department also coordinates parking for town functions and mounts the city's Christmas decorations. It has hosted CPR classes and Carroll County Fire Association's meetings.
An annual dance is held each Spring as a fundraiser for the department.
