New Year's Eve Dance
& "Take It or Leave It"

December 31, 2007

Dedham's Darlings ushered in 2008 to a packed house at the Dedham Legion Centennial Center on New Year's Eve this year.  With Joe Ankenbauer once again lending his talents as emcee for Dedham's second annual rendition of the popular game show "Deal or No Deal," Diane Kitt was chosen as this year's contestant.  Diane played the game well, playing it out to the end and finishing with $40 in winnings, which she graciously donated back to the Quasquicentennial funds.  Thanks, Diane!

Twenty-seven "Darlings" kept the audience entertained as they displayed their ideas of this year's newest (un)fashionable trends in clothing, hairstyles, and makeup.  While a few were daring enough to wear last year's outfit again this year, most came in new attire, some revealing a bit more skin that we cared to see.

As our emcee asked each darling what (s)he received from Santa for Christmas, it quickly became obvious to the audience that some of these gals must have been pretty naughty this last year.  Note to Santa: please remember the wax strips, razors, and Nair for these girls' stockings next year!

The Dedham Quasquicentennial held a kickoff dance on New Year's Eve.  Despite uncooperative weather conditions and cancellation by the DJ, the event still attracted a large number of people.

The front and back pages of the Quasquicentennial book were auctioned by Steve Seidl and Dick Schultes.  The front page was purchased by the Seidl brothers - Steve, Mike, and Tom - to advertise Seidl Auctioneering, Seidl Construction, and Seidl Electric.  Tunning Construction purchased the back page.

Nolan Schultes was the lucky contestant to have his name drawn to participate in "Take It Or Leave It," Dedham's version of the popular TV game show "Deal or No Deal."   Joe Ankenbauer was the entertaining host of the game and was assisted by Dedham's Darlings.  What these darlings lacked in looks was made up by their humor and good nature.

Thanks to the Dedham Legion and to everyone who helped make this kickoff fundraiser a huge success!
